By: Wynter Rudolph

February 18, 2021, Montgomery, Ala.- Today, Metropolitan United Methodist Church host their monthly food pantry for the community. Volunteers gather to help give back to families in need.

Pastor of UMC, Reverend Richard Williams, is addressing the major food insecurities in the Montgomery area. He is being a helping hand to those who are less fortunate. Metropolitan United Methodist Church serves and provides fresh fruits and vegetables, dry goods, and frozen meats to families who are in need. Williams believes that by giving back to the community, he is able to fulfill the need.

United Methodist Church is always in search of volunteers to help assist with the preparation of their service event. UMC has several different ways to serve. From ordering food necessities, to packing bags, and even handing them out in the cars. Volunteers gather at the church food pantry twice a month to give back to families in need.

UMC Volunteer, Cynthia Calvin, mentions about the importance of being of service to others. She believes that everyone doesn’t have money to donate, but we do have a little time that they can share to help someone else. Calvin wants people to get out and help their neighborhood, which can also be a benefit to the city of Montgomery.
